The Lovely Bones (2009)

The question I have is how can they say that they made "The Lovely
Bones" into a movie when the story was barely left intact. Not only
were there numerous things either changed or left out, but I feel that
the essence of the story was lost as well. The point of the story is
that a girl watches her family and her killer from heaven while she
struggles to come to terms with what happened. It seems that the parts
where she is in heaven she is either frolicking through a field or she
is wondering what is in the lighthouse. The point of her being there
was that she spent most of her time watching her family because she
just couldn't let them go. This gets completely lost in the movie. And
the parts where it is with her family it seems like a whodunnit case.
Once again, this wasn't the point. On Earth Susie sees her family torn
apart by the tragedy. The ending…oh god the ending. I won't go into
it in case there are people who haven't seen it but it was complete
crap. I understand that making a book into a movie is difficult and
often things may need to be changed or cut out, but Peter Jackson
destroyed the integrity of the story. If you can't do the book justice,

Let me be the first to admit that there’s nothing wrong with a long
movie, nothing at all. "Titanic" was a long movie that was as exactly
as long as it needed to be. "Gone with the Wind" was a really long
movie that was exactly as long as it needed to be. "Dances with Wolves"
was a long movie that I wish had been even longer when I saw it in the
theater. But "King Kong"? Phhewww…this sucker clocks in at least
30-60 minutes longer than it needs to be. While it played, I kept
inadvertently thinking to myself, "Boy, we really should be out to sea
by now…they haven’t reached the island yet?…man, are they EVER
gonna find Ann?…jeez, when are we gonna go back to Manhattan
already?…" and so on. Hand to God–I actually yawned twice during the
last third of this movie. I even closed my eyes for a second before I

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)

The reason why this first part of Jackson’s ‘Lord of the Rings’ is
superior
to his latter two parts is because of restraint. Jackson was restrained
from
over doing it with the CGI and "epic" battle sequences, which in my
opinion
does not make a story epic. Part of the reason was simply because Tolkien
did not have very many battles in the first part of his book, which
thankfully forced Jackson to focus on creating a believable world rather
